January Prayer Letter

Dear Pastor and Church,

How can it be 2015 already? It seems like yesterday we were watching the 1999 New Year’s Eve London fireworks from Oklahoma and dreaming about the day we would be able to move to England. We are grateful for another year God has given us to be here to spread the Gospel and we are blessed to have so many faithful churches like yours that help us stay here on the field. We realize that for a number of churches it has been 14 or 15 years since we have been with you. When we came to England we decided that if the Lord allowed we were going to stay on the field as much as possible and keep lengthy furloughs to a minimum. Because of your faithful support as well as some increases in our support by some, we have been able to maintain our foothold here and not spend time the States raising additional finances. It is our intention to eventually take a longer furlough and visit those whom we have not seen in so long.

Our annual balloon race at the St Mathew’s Fayre in Liskeard went well. Good weather, good numbers of tracts given out and our winning balloon made it almost 300 miles. We had over 40 people come to our Thanksgiving Dinner we host each year. We treat it as more of a family dinner and not a service but we still find ways to get the message through. This was our 12th year of handing candy canes out in the town centre before Christmas. Over 1,000 candy canes with a church invite went out in just under an hour.  We even had some helpers from a family that has been visiting the church.

We would ask for prayer for Kent’s eye. The retina in his right eye started to detach the first week of October. He had emergency surgery and was restricted to doing nothing for three weeks. The procedure seems to have worked despite his non-compliance with doctors orders as he still conducted church services albeit sitting down, having others read Scripture for him and avoiding talking to loud and getting excited. He still has another procedure in the next few months and we covet your prayers all will go well and he can get back to normal or at least what we consider to be normal.

The gifts and cards that we received for Christmas were a blessing and quite honestly, a spirit booster. It means a lot to be remembered and prayed for.

  1. Hello!

I work for Lake Worth Baptist Church in Lake Worth, TX. I was writing to see how video savvy you are. Our “Faith Promise Missions” Sunday is coming up on the last Sunday of January. However, leading up to that date, I wanted to select a few guys who could put together a 3-4 minute video of your work, prayer requests, why missions is important, ect. I’m just trying to get a voice and a face with where our money is going to our people.

If this is something you would be interested in helping out with, please let me know and we’ll firm up details.

Thank you for all that you do!
