Camp Joy

As we approached our first summer in England in 2003, we thought it would be good to find a youth camp to take the children to. That was our first year at Camp Joy. It has been a wonderful journey watching the camp grow and change, seeing the children get saved and make decisions for Christ and to see young people first come as campers and then work as staff at the camp. So many blessings and so many good memories. The Lord has blessed us to have a small part in the camp each year we have been in country.

This year was no exception. Andrea and I were kitchen assistants and Davis was the assistant games leader. Deidra still gets to be a camper but her time is coming to slave the week away. Kent also took care of the morning chapel session and did his usual mixture of preaching and craziness. The theme of Camp was Creation and so for the morning chapel fun time we explored some possible food items that Adam and Eve may have tried. Such things as donuts with baked beans or tortilla chips with whipped cream. Each day there were new things to try and try them the kids did.

The best thing about camp was the two young men who trusted Christ as their Saviour on Friday morning after the service.

Camp is a good week that allows the kids to have some Christian fellowship and for us to spend some time with great friends from all over the country.
